| The Farafina
Tigne Bead Museum opened its doors on March 4, 2000. It is the only museum
in Africa devoted to the art of personal adornment. Our displays include
examples of many African trade beads, including chevrons, amber and millefiore.
Some of our oldest beads were excavated from Djenné-Jeno and predate
the Christian era. The museum also houses displays of African royal beaded
regalia and exhibits of West African cultural artifacts. |
